What Does a Dolphin Have to Do with Basketball?

The Dolphin

*A dolphin represents harmony and balance.

*Highly intelligent and closely in tune with their instincts, striking a balance between the two states.

*Their playful nature is a reminder that everyone needs to approach life with humor and joy.

*Dolphins are symbolically known as peaceful and gentle animals; often described as complex, but at the root, are very basic animals

*Touted for their cooperation and deep inner strength.

The Game of Basketball

*Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian, invented the game in 1891 while working at a YMCA Training School.

*Created a game during the harsh winter months of Springfield, Massachusetts, as part of an “athletic distraction” to a disruptive group of students.

*Basketball is a sport that can be complex, but simple; originating from basic roots.

*In the workings of a basketball team, harmony (or chemistry) and balance are needed in order for a team to be successful.

*TEAM game; 5 players working together to achieve one common goal (5 as 1).

*Game of intelligence (often the team with increased basketball IQ comes out on top).

Putting It Together

Like dolphins, players must harness their instincts and summon their inner strength and cooperation in order to gain a positive outcome. Through these basic natural and learned traits, success for the team and the individual are the beginning frameworks for F.O.R.M.
